I took Rapid Prototyping and absolutely loved it. The professor was hilarious and engaging, and learning about all the types of 3D printing and the engineering behind it was fascinating. The projects were a great mix of design and theory. My only complaint is that it was an 8am class, but other than that, it's an excellent course.

I had one of the lecturers for CS 1114 previously for CS 2505, and they were pretty decent. The main professor handled the course, but the lecturer I had was good. Overall, it was a solid experience.

I liked the professor despite him being a bit socially awkward and not super enthusiastic. His lectures were good, and his tests matched the material he covered. As long as you pay attention and read the relevant chapters, you'll do fine with no surprises on exams.

I haven't taken those courses myself, but I've heard that one professor is a great lecturer. Also, the Japan class isn't offered regularly, so if you get the chance, take it. It's a unique opportunity you might not get again.

I've heard good things about some professors but never had them. The professor I had for the course was very good. The assignments and tests are standardized across sections, so it's fair. My professor was a good lecturer and had very helpful office hours.

If you can't get your grade changed to graduate, just stay an extra semester and work full time to cover tuition. The administration isn't always flexible, but student housing is the cheapest rent you'll ever have. It's manageable overall.

One of the professors in circuits is super generous with extensions and partial credit, but the course itself is a mess because of it. He's actually a pretty good lecturer though. Computational is a total blow-off if you have any coding experience—you can skip lectures and still do fine.

I'm no longer at Virginia Tech, but I recall they stopped requiring on-campus housing because of high enrollment. I think that was a smart move, giving students more freedom. It shows the university adapts to growth. Overall, a flexible policy that benefits students.

STEM professors here are just too busy with research to focus on undergrad teaching. I wish there were more lecturers dedicated to actually educating us, while researchers could focus on grad students. But without better funding for wages, it's hard to see that changing anytime soon.

At Virginia Tech, only a few 1000-level math and chem/physics labs are taught by GTAs. Most other classes are handled by professional lecturers, adjuncts, or visiting professors. Tenured faculty focus on higher-level courses. CS adds variety with A/P faculty teaching 1-credit topics. It's a bit confusing, but HokieSpa lets you look up faculty credentials. Overall, the teaching staff is diverse.

I took a class with my professor this semester. It's not too bad overall—most of the grade comes from homework and attendance. He's pretty boring as a lecturer, but he curves the tests, so it works out okay.

Even students who met the housing deadline were recently told they'd have to find their own off-campus housing. The real issue wasn't the deadline—Virginia Tech seriously overenrolled. It's been a mess, and the administration hasn't handled it well.

I feel like the university is just trying to squeeze as much money out of us as possible. Get accused of cheating? Suddenly you're paying for another semester of tuition. It makes you wonder if some of these policies are designed to keep us here longer and pay more.

After graduating, I realized Virginia Tech treats students like cogs in a business machine. It felt transactional, pushing us out just to fill our spots with the next tuition-paying student. That impersonal, money-driven vibe left a bad taste.

The cyber program here is just a concentration of the BIT major. Don’t let the name fool you—it’s not fundamentally different. I was hoping for more specialized courses, but so far it feels like the same BIT content.

If you have to pay a lot, it's really not worth it. My parents are forcing me to go, so I'm stuck with the high cost and not happy about it.

I heard some students who met the housing deadline still ended up living off campus. The university just overenrolled and couldn't handle it. It's frustrating because signing up earlier wouldn't have made a difference. Definitely affects the campus experience and makes me question the value here.

I was placed on the housing waitlist as a freshman and told to find my own housing, first in June and again in July. It seems Virginia Tech added a clause to avoid being required to house all freshmen, which is frustrating. The lack of support for incoming students is concerning.
