What students say

safetyfirst

I'd recommend downloading the UoA Alert app. It sends push notifications about any incidents on campus, plus it has a handy shortcut to call security directly. It also provides guidance on how to handle different emergencies. It's a simple safety tool that gives me peace of mind, so I'd say it's worth having on your phone.

electrical engineering

I recently graduated with a Master's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Auckland. The current job market in New Zealand is tough for engineers—very competitive. I submitted over a hundred applications before getting a non-engineering job. Practical experience like internships and technical projects made the biggest difference. I'd advise starting networking and building a portfolio early. Despite the challenges, with persistence and solid skills, opportunities exist. It's a mixed experience but worth it if you're prepared.
